Invitation

Dear colleagues,

Pakistan is a land of charisma and beauty. Its civilization touches unparalleled peaks as high as the mountains it boasts to its north and as deep as the emerald green Arabian Sea to its south. Karachi, its old capital, has emerged as the country's economic heart and industrial center. It was here over hundred years ago that Civil Hospital was established. Dow Medical College was conceived five decades later, but grew rapidly and emerged as one of the most prestigious institutes in this part of the world. Celebrating the centenary and golden anniversaries of these esteemed institutions is therefore necessary not only to recognize their contribution to health and medical practice, but also to plan for their future.

With great pleasure we therefore invite you to the Scientific Congress to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Dow Medical College and Centenary of Civil Hospital Karachi which will InshaAllah be held from December 28, 1996 to January 1, 1997 in Karachi, Pakistan. This Congress is being organized in collaboration with the Overseas Doctors Associations and Dow Graduates of North America and is meant to provide an opportunity:

In short: " We will be Cherishing the Past ... and Envisioning the Future."

Please mark your calendars and inform anyone interested. We urge all the Dow Graduates and Alumni of Civil Hospital Karachi to join us in these celebrations and contribute in every way possible to our beloved institutions.

During this year we also plan to:

  • Release a current Directory of Dow Graduates
  • Publish the Golden Jubilee Issue of "Dowlite " and Namood-e-Sehar"
  • Organize a Mushaira, Debates, Memorial Lectures, a Mela and a Sports gala.

Please make this occasion a resounding success with your active participation !
