Online Magazine of Dow Medical College Alumni

Editorial

With time the memories may become merely a vague and
fuzzy background unless we share it. With sharing, however,
it can become as fresh as a fresh smelling flower.
(the title above depicts the concept)

This alumni activity has only this objective to accomplish.
Don't let your fine days at Dow go by unremembered!
This section will replace the previous DowNet International magazine
that I started last year. This new section will serve as an "online-magazine"
for Dow Alumni to participate in the creative activity as we all
did in our Dow days.

Arag auditorium, anatomy museum, Moin auditorium, snack corner,
cafeteria, these are our precious landmarks.
As you browse through this new presentation at our Dow Homepage
consider yourself walking down the same hallways, sitting on the same
stairs, sipping away the same cup of tea, listening to the same
speeches, debates or lectures, and enjoying the favorite music.

I invite you to please take this journey into time and
browse through these landmarks where
the stories, articles, poems, arts and humor will be present all the time
for you to enjoy and share. If you would like to share your thoughts
please send in or email. Also please give your valuable feedback
to improve this section.

Thank you.

Rizwan A. Karatela.

.... the auditorium, the center of main activity, the lectures, the meetings,
the debates, the functions, the after class sit-in activity. The cool breeze from the
tennis court, the order of tea from the snack corner, around the corner ....

.... for many of us the day did not start without checking in to the "snack corner".
Cool, cemented seats, wooden benches in front, winding vines across the shades,
the floor just washed with water and a cup of tea in hand. The samosa,
the chicken patties and now lets discuss politics ....
if you are nostalgic for that tea-time visit here

....... many lectures attended, many lectures missed, many a literary debates seen,
many crossfires, many memories. The serious thoughts about future. The final year
examination is right around the corner. The house job is not too far. The worries
of senior class .....

.... the place where everything started, the refuge for many of us, the "dal ghosht"
"Chicken jalfrazi" and "aloo matar", the hot chappati and onion with pickle,
the hot tea for the whole table ....

.... the place where we sat for hours studying. Seniors taught juniors in small groups.
Its large windows always brought relaxing and soothing breeze accompanied by
the sound of hustling leaves of "neem trees"nearby ....

.... this section on webpage will display the visual arts by our Dow Alumni. In the same
spirit of AVL created in 1970s ....

.... there was a girl's common room and then there was a boys common, separated by
blocks but common in more then many ways, the "gupshup" the stories and much
much more ....
if you are nostalgic for gupshup visit here

I hope you enjoy your visit here
